Occupational Therapy

(For reference purposes, this is a sensory bin)

Lyric had her first session of Occupational Therapy last week, and it wore her out.  That makes 2 weeks in a row where her Early Intervention sessions have made her sleep like a rock through the night.  If I would have known that was the solution to getting our bed back to ourselves, I would have asked them to come over every day, ha!

There really isn't a lot of new stuff to report from that session, which is why the blog entry is delayed.  It was mostly to check in and see how things like the weighted blanket, and the backpack were working.  The therapist wanted to make sure that she knew all of our concerns, introduce herself, and kind of get a feel for what works and what doesn't.  The only new suggestion for us was to make a sensory bin with rice and cornmeal to try to get her to adapt to the feeling of dirty hands.  I'm not sure how I am going to convince her to play with it, because it does leave quite a coating.  There will probably have to be some Sour Patch Kids involved for incentive.

She still seems to be increasing the amount of talking that she is doing.  I'm not sure if it's due to new vocabulary or just that she's getting a better idea on pronunciation and we're able to make out what she is saying a bit better.  Melissa should be coming over this week to pick up where we left off on Project Impact.  We will see what happens with that.  I will try to get another post up with the activities that I have cobbled together for her the past few weeks in the next couple of days.

Until then, the weather is a bit warmer which is making me irrationally optimistic for spring.  Hopefully the trend continues, so we can get outside and have some fun soon!
